Step by step

  1. Early May – late May · 3 weeks after the last spring frost

    Sow Seeds Outdoors

Sow thinly in drills where they are to grow. Sow 2 cm deep.

  2. 7–14 days after “Sow Seeds Indoors” · Mid May

    Check Germination

Seedlings should appear in 7–14 days. If sown outdoors, thin to 30 cm apart when big enough to handle.

  3. 7–21 days after “Plant Out” · Mid May – early June

    Add Support

Push twiggy sticks in around the plants to hold them off the ground.

  4. 56–77 days after “Check Germination” · Early July – late July

    Start Harvesting

Pick pods at 2–3 cm long, every day or two — bigger pods turn stringy.

  5. 45–75 days after “Start Harvesting” · Late August – late September

    Finish and Clear

Clear the remains to the compost heap once cropping ends.
